Monthly Challenge Series

2025:

November: Get the Helper’s High. As the holidays approach us, we challenge you to find opportunities to fill your cup by helping others. We often think of burnout as having too much to do, when in reality, it’s more about how you feel about what you’re doing. Take a moment this month to do an act of kindness: volunteer to plant a tree - FUF is my go to, find a soup kitchen like GLIDE or volunteer at your kid’s school. Observe how you feel afterwards and if you get the helper’s high (more details on the science behind that in our blog). This is also a great opportunity to teach your children about the value of community and altruism.

October: Declutter your phone. The magical device in your pocket is draining your mental energy. Like any financial advisor starts with an inventory of your assets and financial goals, we have to get the baseline first. Look at your app usage (“Screen Time” on iPhone, ”Digital Wellbeing” on Android). Do those apps bring you joy? If not, uninstall them. Now imagine what you can do with the extra time you just found!

September: CAR JAM! Our kid recently started school on the other side of town, and for the first time, I understood the common complaint that parents are just unpaid drivers. Then it hit me: Instead of listening to the Frozen soundtrack for the 1000th time or another podcast, why not pick a song, let loose and sing out loud? Turn that “Blah moment” into a “Me moment”! It might even inspire the stressed out parents in the other cars to belt it out! *Pro tip: Spotify has an AI DJ that can play great music. Give it a try.*

August: Schedule a date night with your partner or an evening with a friend for this month. Look at your calendars and jot it down by the end of today. Once it’s on the calendar, make it happen!
